Present simple or continuous?
We use the present simple tense to talk about:
Habits:
She usually washes her hair twice a week.
Facts:
It rains a lot in Galicia.
And known facts about the future:
My plane leaves at half past three next Saturday.
We use the present continuous to talk about:
Something happening now:
She is texting her friend right now.
Something happening this season:
My friend Susan is visiting her family in London.
Present plans for the near future:
We are having dinner next Saturday.
Now a remix of some songs with the present simple tense:
Remember to use present continuous with temporary situations and present simple with permanent events.
Some exercises for you:
Exercise 1
Exercises 2
Exercise 3
Exercises 4
And a song to practise the present tense.
